TRAVEL DIRECTIONS

Haarlem is ideally situated, being only 20 minutes from ‘Amsterdam Centraal’ train station, where hi-speed international trains whizz in from cities all over Europe. It’s also only 15 minutes from IJmuiden harbour where the DFDS Seaways Newcastle to Amsterdam ferry docks. And as the city is only 20 minutes from Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport – it’s literally easy to get to from anywhere on earth!

CAR

From the A9 take exit Haarlem Zuid / Zandvoort (N205). At the fourth traffic light, turn left and at the next traffic light turn left again. The hotel is located directly on the left (Toekanweg)

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Frequent trains run directly between Amsterdam and Haarlem’s Centraal Station. The trains usually leave Amsterdam Centraal Station from Platform 1 or 2 every 15 minutes. Haarlem has two stations – Haarlem Spaarnwoude and Haarlem Centraal – and it is Haarlem Centraal you need to disembark at to visit the city centre. For the latest train timetables and fares, check out www.ns.nl. From Haarlem station, you can take bus 300 to the hotel at bus stop Europaweg (see underneath).

If you are traveling to Haarlem from Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport, then you should take the bus for a direct route; cheaper and more convenient since there is a bus stop Europaweg in front of the hotel. Take Bus 300 which runs day and night, approximately every 10-15 minutes between Schiphol airport and Haarlem Central Station. The trip to the hotel takes about 30 minutes. Buses are signposted when you exit Schiphol airport. Look for a big red bus with the number 300 Haarlem statin on the front.

Bus 300

People pay for public transport with a contactless smart card, called OV-chipkaart. You can use it to pay the fare on bus, metro, train, and tram. Find more information on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OV-chipkaart. It’s worthwhile to get some more information on this system beforehand. Underneath you find good YouTube information.
